Drip

Drip is slang for a stylish, fashionable look — your outfit, jewellery and overall swagger. “He’s got drip” means he’s dressed impressively; to be “dripped out” is to look great.

Where drip came from

The exact origin is debated, but drip is widely linked to early-2000s Atlanta hip-hop, where it described someone so stylish they were practically “dripping” with cool (and expensive) fashion. It spread widely through rap and then social media in the late 2010s.

What it means and how it's used

Drip is a compliment about style: “that’s serious drip,” “where’d you get that drip,” “dripped out from head to toe.” It pairs naturally with terms like slay, ate and bussin.
