Bussin
Bussin means something is really, really good — most often used for delicious food (“this is bussin”). It’s rooted in African American Vernacular English and went mainstream through viral food-reaction videos around 2020–2021.
Where bussin came from
Bussin comes from African American Vernacular English (AAVE), related to “bust” in the sense of bursting or going beyond the expected. It was used in Black communities well before it trended online, and broke out around 2020–2021 via viral videos — especially dramatic food-tasting reactions on TikTok.
What it means and how it's used
It’s a compliment: “this pizza is bussin” means it’s delicious. It stretches to anything great — music, outfits, vibes. The doubled form “bussin bussin” means extra good. It often pairs with “no cap” for emphasis (“this is bussin, no cap”).
As with several viral terms, it’s worth recognising its AAVE roots rather than treating it as a word that appeared from nowhere.
