What sigma means
Sigma — from “sigma male” — is slang for a coolly independent “lone wolf” man, and more loosely a way to say something is “excellent” or “cool”. Among Gen Alpha it is mostly used ironically, as in the joke “what the sigma?”
What based means
Based means being confidently, unapologetically yourself — unbothered by what others think. It is also used to agree with or admire a bold, honest opinion (“based take”).
