Lore Dump

A “lore dump” is unloading a huge amount of backstory or context on someone all at once. Originally about fiction (a game explaining its whole history in one go), it now mostly means over-sharing your own personal drama in one long info-blast.

Where it came from

“Lore” is a gaming and fandom word for a story’s accumulated backstory. A lore dump was a chunk of narrative delivered all at once — often clumsily. Online, people started applying “lore” to their own lives (“my lore is crazy”), and “lore dump” became the act of explaining all of it, unprompted.

How it's used

“Sorry for the lore dump” after a long message. “She lore-dumped the whole friendship group’s history on me.” It’s usually affectionate teasing — the dump is welcome, just a lot.
