Touch Grass
“Touch grass” means: go outside, get off the internet, reconnect with reality. It’s aimed at someone who is far too online — arguing too hard about something that doesn’t matter.
Where it came from
The phrase grew out of gaming and Twitter culture in the early 2020s, built on a simple image: someone so deep in a screen that they haven’t physically touched the outdoors in days. It became the standard way to end an argument by implying the other person needs sunlight.
How it's used
“It’s 3am and you’re fighting about a fictional character. Touch grass.” It’s an insult, but a fairly gentle one — and, occasionally, sincere advice. See also brainrot, its natural cause.
